StreetSpark is a way to connect with people who you have not met, but may want to.
It can be used for both dating and social networking.
You tell us a bit about yourself and about the types of people you are looking to meet.
We match for you. And through the website and your mobile handset we let you know when one of your matches (we call them 'Sparks') are nearby. You will see a photo of them and some basic information.
If you are interested in finding out more, you press 'Ignite'. If they press 'Ignite' too, you will get to see more information about each other, and can text Chat (like everything else it's free!) or meet up. The choice is yours.
There are people you may want to meet and they are just around the corner. Chance meetings open new doors and possibilities. But because you are unaware of these, you are missing out on key opportunities. Everyday. And that is the point of StreetSpark. We want to stop that happening.
We save you time, and allow you to get on with your life whilst leaving serendipity an open window to come calling. And who wouldn't want that!
At StreetSpark we take the information that you have provided to us about who you are and who you would like to meet and put this through a complex matching engine (we like to call it 'The Spark Generator').
Then, when you are walking around in the street, you can turn on the different types of matches that you are looking for.
Through GPS and mobile phone triangulation, we detect the area of the city you are in.
We search for other StreetSpark members who are also in the approximate area. But we make it easy and targeted, because we only tell you about those people who have already been matched with you.
We alert both of you that you have been matched, and that you are nearby. Your exact location is never shown, instead we only indicate distance away.
We use text based Chat instead of phone numbers so personal details of our StreetSpark members are never revealed. It is your right to disclose this information to another person yourself. That is the only way they will get to know it.
And everything is completely safe and secure. No contact information is revealed and your exact location is not shown.
If you don't have an iPhone you can use the website to put your general location on the map. You can put several locations on the map, depending on where you live, work, and go out.
You can then see others nearby that have been matched with you, and decide how you might like to take it further.
No, StreetSpark is available to anyone who wants to meet new people who share some of the same interests that they have. Turn on 'Common Interests' on your Home screen.
You will be alerted in the same way as has been outlined above, when someone you may want to meet is nearby. Common interests may be hobbies, sport, languages, or work that you have in common. This is a great way to expand the circle of friends that you currently have, while still focussing on the things that you enjoy doing.
At this stage it's absolutely free.
Down the line we will offer a premium version the will be based on a monthly subscription.
We will also be looking at a points based system for non-premium users, which will mean you will need points for certain activities on the site. These points can be bought but can also be earned by active usage on StreetSpark! Points will also allow you discounts at StreetSpark affiliate venues.
No! We never divulge any contact information (such as an email address) to anyone because all communication is kept with StreetSpark itself.
So no one will be able to contact you without you explicitly giving them your contact information.
Also, we never show exact location anyway, just an approximation (we scramble the exact location).
If you want to meet up you have to arrange that via Chat. (Note - we will soon have a 'recommend a place to meet' feature which will give you options of good (and safe) places to meet nearby).
And if there is someone that you do not want any more contact with, you can 'Extinguish' (delete) them and they will never see your profile again.
Yes. If you want to take a break, make sure to turn off all your match options on the Home screen. Then you will no longer be visible to other users. Note: all previously loaded Sparks will stay in your SparkBox. To get back on the network again, just select 'Instant Spark', 'Eternal Flame' 'Common Interests' or all three. You are entirely in control.
Firstly, we are not just a dating site.
We're more about social networking with people you have yet to meet.
We let users share Tips about best places to go (and we will soon have a fun competitive element around points and badges). Plus we're about local events - getting people to join in real activities nearby.
And the most important thing is, we match for you, so no wasted time sitting in front of a computer screen looking through photos. And we do it in the real world. In real-time. No one meets in front of a computer screen...so get out there, and see what StreetSpark has in store for you!

Not yet. As London has a large population of single people, we are starting here. And we want to make sure that it works well, very well, for this audience before taking the show on the road.
But we will look at expanding out to other centres in the UK, and Europe and have plans for Canada, the States, and also South America..ole!

No. That goes against the whole principle of StreetSpark. We match for you. Not only to save you time, but also to make sure that you aren't seeing every person on the network, people that you have nothing in common with.
Also, you will not be able to see photos or even basic information of other members until you have been matched with them, and are in the same vicinity. We believe that people who hang out in the same area, have a lot in common with each other any way, and we want to highlight these similarities so it is easier to 'break the ice.'
No! Once you have pressed 'Extinguish,' that's it. You will see them no more, and they will see you no more. So no drunken texting. You never have to worry about them again.
You need to wait for the person that you have Ignited to Ignite you too.
If they press 'Ignite' too, you will get to see more information about each other, and can arrange to speak using StreetSpark Chat or meet up. The choice is yours.
Remember, there is a lot of other stuff to do on StreetSpark too. We show you tips for cool places recommended by other people, and events happening nearby...and there will be many more features, that will come from the feedback that we get from people like you, who use the system and want to help us improve it.
There are a number of events for members of StreetSpark and they appear on the calendar on the home page. This is coming soon!
Events will be based around locality, interests, and what people are looking for in other members.
To peak your interest, you will be able to see who is planning to come beforehand.
In the future, you will also be able to set up your own events with people who are on the network and in your area.
You will be able to see Tips from other members on their favourite restaurants, bars and places to go, and you will be alerted when activities that you may want to be involved in are happening nearby.
Events will be a big part of the service, we have carefully hand-picked a select number of the right places to host our events. You will receive invites to exclusive StreetSpark parties, and soon be able to set up your own activities/events with other members in your area.
Members will be able to 'check in' to restaurants, bars and places and see matches (Sparks) in the vicinity.
We will also have a points system. Points are like digital discounts or loyalty vouchers to members who use StreetSpark on a regular basis.
Points are given out for activity on the network, and you will receive discounts on drinks and stuff (at StreetSpark affiliated venues), and also be able to use points for other elements of the service.
Points will be coming soon. We like a gaming element as it makes the network more fun and opens it up to some friendly competition. Members benefit from using the StreetSpark network often (and in more ways than one!)
StreetSpark members will get points for getting involved. Whether that is 'Igniting' a lot of sparks, or checking your home page and SparkBox regularly, you will get points for your activity on the network.
Points will get you discounts on drinks and events, and also open up new features to you.

Yes they will also be coming! You will receive badges for specific things you do. They are meant to be souvenirs that remind you of how you have used StreetSpark, and the achievements you've made whilst on the network!
They are meant as a bit of fun, and can be used as conversation openers for other members on the network.
We will let you know how this works when this feature is turned on.

Alright the first thing to do is to go to the Profile section and fill in as much info as you can both in both sections – "About You" and "About Your Perfect Match".
Next add a photo in the Photo Tab. Then update your Location in that tab.
After that you can come back here and add your Status Message and turn on Match options in the MatchBox to reveal your Sparks (what we call matches) in the SparkBox. Then you can ‘Ignite’ those you like and ‘Extinguish’ those you don’t! Once you both have Ignited each other the Spark will move to the Ignited tab. From there you can click on the Spark to reveal that person's full Profile. You can then chat. So get on with it!
Whoa there! Have you filled in your profile yet? You won't get any Sparks until you've filled out the 'About You' and 'About Your Perfect Match' fields under the Profile tab and uploaded a Photo. Once that's sorted, come back here and activate these Match icons.
Bonus points for making the first move! If it's mutual and they Ignite you, the Spark will move to the 'Ignited' tab where you can view their full profile.
